Candles That Support Mental Health

This brand exists because of a hard season.

Mikayla, founder of Upsensed, didn't start making candles because she wanted to build a business. She started because she needed to slow down, and candle-making was the thing that helped her do it. What followed was a reckoning with her own mental health, a commitment to therapy, and a gradual understanding that the environments we create for ourselves matter more than most of us are taught to believe.

That's the reason mental health isn't a footnote at Upsensed, but the reason the brand exists.

Our Commitment to the ADAA

5% of every Upsensed purchase goes directly to the Anxiety & Depression Association of America — an organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and cure of anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, PTSD, and co-occurring conditions through education, practice, and research.

We chose the ADAA specifically because they do the work — funding research, training clinicians, and connecting people to evidence-based treatment resources at a scale that individual awareness campaigns can't reach. Your purchase doesn't just support a message. It supports the infrastructure behind mental health care.

Why Fragrance and Why Now

A candle is not a substitute for therapy. Mikayla would be the first to say that, and the nursing background behind this brand makes it impossible for us to suggest otherwise.

But ritual matters. Environment matters. The small, consistent acts of caring for your own space — lighting something that shifts the atmosphere, building a moment of pause into a day that otherwise has none — are not trivial. Research on sensory environment and emotional regulation consistently supports what most people already know intuitively: the way a space feels affects the way you feel inside it.

Upsensed was built on that idea. Not as a wellness brand making claims it can't back up, but as a home fragrance brand that takes seriously what home fragrance can actually do.

What Your Purchase Supports

Every time someone buys an Upsensed product, 5% goes to the ADAA. That means:

  • Funding for anxiety and depression research
  • Education programs that help people recognize symptoms and seek care
  • Treatment resources and therapist directories for people who don't know where to start
  • Public awareness that reduces the stigma around mental health treatment

We track this giving and will share updates on what the Upsensed community has collectively contributed as the brand grows.

If you're here because mental health is personal to you, whether you're in the middle of something hard, on the other side of it, or trying to build a life that feels more sustainable — this brand was made with you in mind.

Not as a solution. As a companion to the real work.
